The Gateway partnership recognises the additional challenges faced by survivors of sexual violence during this current health crisis. We know that rape and sexual abuse most commonly occur in the home and so isolating may pose additional risks to survivors. We are also aware that this crisis may be increasing online sexual abuse or harassment and exacerbating symptoms of trauma.
Please be reassured that the agencies in the Gateway partnership are still operating remotely during COVID-19. Navigators are still able to offer initial advice and support and refer to available services. We know that it may be challenging for some to talk due to reduced privacy and/or increased caring responsibilities and so please let us know if you have a preferred time or method for safe contact when you self-refer.
During this challenging time, survivors and their families may find it useful to browse our self-help guides and resources page.
